A unique opportunity is available for a motivated doctor to join the team as a Medical Officer.

About the Role

As a medical officer working on phase 1 trials, you will provide high quality medical care and services to healthy volunteers and patients (inpatient and outpatient) participating in clinical trials conducted by the SCR.

You will act as principal or sub-investigator for selected trials for both healthy volunteers and patients supported by the Medical Director and Deputy Medical Director.

You will work closely with a multi-functional team of doctors, scientists, clinical project managers, data managers as well as with external stakeholders on the forefront of drug development including COVID-19 therapeutics.

About you

To be successful for this position you will fulfil the following criteria:

• A medical practitioner with broad experience (PGY4+ or more) and a recognised medical degree
• Full unconditional registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
• Ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team (which includes clinical and non-clinical staff)
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate and build good rapport with clinical trial staff and participants
• Availability 2-3 days per week and flexibility to work outside of normal business hours e.g. early mornings, late evening, weekends if required
• Have an interest in working with a healthy volunteers and patients across therapeutic disciplines in the conduct of clinical trials

Preferably:

• Advanced Life Support Training
• Relevant GCP Training or knowledge of GCP principles (training can be provided)
• Experience in conducting clinical trials or research as a Clinical Investigator
• Experience in working in commercially sponsored trial settings
