Why should you participate?

Be reimbursed for your time – Clinical trials are free for participants, but attract reimbursement for the time and effort involved, the amount reimbursed will depend on the intensity (number and duration of visits to the clinic). Depending on  the individual requirements for each study, you could be reimbursed thousands of dollars for your time.

Why you might, or might not be able to participate

Everyone is different, and there’s often no such thing as a clear definition of ‘normal’! It is most important that we maintain the safety of everyone that chooses to participate.

This is why all clinical trials have a series of rules and guidelines as to who can participate. These guidelines also ensure that researchers conduct the trial in a safe way to ensure that reliable, and accurate results are generated at the end of the study.

These guidelines are called eligibility criteria, and consist of:

• Inclusion criteria: Are rules which must be met in order for someone to take part in a study, for example a BMI in a certain range, or a certain blood type.
• Exclusion criteria: Are the rules which mean that you cannot participate, for example you have a certain medical condition, or that you’re already on a particular type of medication.

Everyone is different, and each study is discussed with each participant in detail on an individual basis to make sure that this study is right for you.

Your safety, our core priority

As a healthy volunteer, and from the moment that you walk into our facility, your well-being and safety are our top priority. By participating in a clinical study, you’ll receive detailed and ongoing medical evaluations and regular monitoring throughout the entire process.

This high level of care, and with the support of our experienced, and in-house medical and nursing specialists, identifies any issues early, and provides you with access to expert medical advice and support.

Co-located within the Randwick Health Precinct, we’re supported 24/7 by the world renowned Prince of Wales team, and our team have admission rights to the Prince of Wales, ensuring your safety at all times.

What does participating in a trial look like?

It all starts with a registration.

You’ll need to provide us with a little bit of basic information about yourself such as: age, height, weight, if you have any allergies, any medications that you’re currently taking, and some other information about your medical background.

• Once we have your information, or if you call our team direct, you’ll be added into our secure database
• You’ll receive an email from us which provides critical information about the trial, such as start/end dates, material which outlines the medicine itself, amongst other things, for you to review.
• Once you’ve reviewed all the information, and if you’re interested in participating, you’ll then formally apply for that trial, and we’ll give you a call to discuss the study
• If everything aligns, you’ll then come into our facility and meet our doctors one on one. We’ll run through your medical information, the study itself and explain what the study will involve.
• Assuming everything goes well and you’re eligible, you’ll then come in for day 1 of your stay with us!
• Our medical team will provide you with constant overnight during the active phase. During this process, participants can withdraw from a study at any time and this will not have negative consequences on the quality of the medical treatment you receive, or your relationship with your own personal physician.
• Once you’re discharged, and once the study is completed, we’ll follow-up to ensure your safety.
